Instructional Monday (Tuesday 4/9/24)
What is an "Instructional Monday"
On Tuesday, April 9th, Baylor will operate a typical "Monday" schedule, even though it is a Tuesday.
Why is this happening?
Baylor's accrediting body requires that the academic calendar include a certain number of class days for each of our meeting patterns. With the way the Spring 2024 academic calendar fell, Baylor was short on "Monday" classes. The Instructional Monday on 4/9/24 was created in order for the traditional term to meet our accrediting requirements.
Why is the traditional Spring 2024 term short on Mondays?
In order to allow Baylor students to join the Waco community in observing the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8th, Baylor moved Dia Del Oso from the traditional weekday of Tuesday to Monday. With the shift of that university holiday being observed on that Monday rather than a Tuesday, Baylor was short on Monday classes.
