Diploma Name Considerations
For US Citizens, the diploma is purely ceremonial and is not intended for degree verification purposes, so preferred names do not create issues unless you intend to work internationally.
For International Students
For international students, the diploma is often used for degree verification purposes; therefore, students should ensure they request their legal name on their diploma.
For U.S. Citizens Intending to Work Internationally
For students who are US citizens who intend to work internationally, please be aware that the diploma is often use for degree verification purposes in some countries. If the name on the diploma doesn't match the passport name, international employers will not be able to use the diploma for degree verification purposes; therefore, students intending to work internationally should ensure they request their legal name on their diploma.
Requesting a New CeDiploma with an Updated Name
In order to receive a new CeDiploma with an updated name, the student will need to request the CeDiploma be rescinded and request a new CeDiploma.
Instructions:
Send an email to Diploma_Verification@baylor.edu and include the following:
- Name
- Student ID or Date of Birth
- Request for your CeDiploma to be rescinded
- State the legal name you would like listed on a new CeDiploma
