Adding/Updating Social Security Numbers
The Importance of Accurate Social Security Numbers
- Financial Aid - financial aid cannot be processed without a complete, accurate SSN on file
- Loan Deferment - missing or inaccurate SSNs prevent enrollment information from being processed by the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), which means that the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and loan servicing companies are unaware of the student's current enrollment at Baylor.
- Future Employment - all degree information is submitted to the NSC, making it available for students and employers to access student enrollment, graduation, and degree information. Many employers use NSC to verify degrees. If students SSNs are incorrect, their enrollment data is not being received by NSC and is not available for future employer verification.
